I am new to the rail industry and have been offered two different jobs with from two different Class 1 railroads. Both seem like very good jobs... any suggestions? Thanks

Train dispatching can be very stressful, but if you enjoy a job that is fast-paced (you will constantly be receiving incoming calls from various trains within your district, it can get pretty hectic) you would probably enjoy it. A management position would probably be less stressful (again, probably; cannot entirely say), and at the very least not as fast-paced. If you are simply looking to earn more income, the management position would most likely be it. In any event, it really comes down to what you think would be more enjoyable. The best of luck to you in whichever career you decide to choose!

Wow, you're lucky. I'm 29 and wish I'da became a conductor years ago. By now I could be an engineer.

Anyway, dispatching is a great job....my best friend is a truck dispatcher.

Avoid Management. The pay never outways the crude you have to shuffle. I would dispatch that!
