I want to take the train from grand central station in chicago to the train station in normal ill.

If you go to the Amtrak.com website and type "Chicago - Union Station, IL (CHI)" in the Departure text box and "Bloomington-Normal, IL (BNL)" in the Arrives text box you should get a listing of available trains that make stops at both locations (I believe there are three; the Texas Eagle, State House, and Ann Rutledge).
